The
Conscientious Carrier
Trying
To Find A Green Dot
Or
Perhaps One That Might Be Red
At
Two A.M. Is That Morning Or Night?
Either
Way, You’d Rather Be Home In Bed
But
You’re Stuffing Papers In A Plastic Bag
So
They Won’t Get All Soggy Or Wet
Then
Trying To Find The Right Paper Tube
But
You’re Not At The Right Address Yet
Driving
Down The Road On The Wrong Side
To
Try To Deliver It To The Right Place
And
The Sunday Addition With All Those Ads
To
Get The Route Done On Time Is A Race
You
Sleep When You Can In The Daytime
‘Cause
It’s Dark When Those Papers Get Slung
With
Your Route List Or Using A GPS
In
Yards Or Paper Tubes Those Papers Are Flung
It’s The Saga Of The
Paper Carrier
And Early Mornings Of Each Early Day
Getting All Of Those
Papers Delivered
Is How Folks Like Us, Each Earn Our Pay
