What I like best (about my job): It’s never the same day twice. Everyday brings new and exciting challenges and the potential to learn something new.

Most memorable moment with INI: It was of course with Newshound! One year at the Sandcastle Contest I helped dress the Newshound in a group of bushes in the middle of a parking lot while people were walking all around us. A few adults noticed but said nothing as they hurried their children along.

Hobbies/Interests: I love art of any kind. I usually take field trips to the National Gallery in DC a few times a year. I am also a huge music junkie – I will listen to anything I can get my hands on. Most people can tell you I never leave the house without my ipod.

Fun fact (about myself): I helped put myself through college by being a nanny for a family with four boys; ages ranging from newborn to 11. While with the family I learned Hebrew with the older boys and how cute the two babies could be when charming the Nuns of the college I was attending.

Number of years in the newspaper or printing business: Technically since birth. My mother was in the newspaper industry for more than 20 years so I have had a number of newspaper positions throughout my lifetime. I have done everything from delivering newspapers, freelance photography, building a multi-tiered customer retention program for circulation, marketing, and sales for both newspapers/commercial printing.

Job description: New Business Development for our commercial printing operation in the North East.

What I like best (about my job): I love finding and selling potential clients as well as interacting with our current customers. It’s rewarding to hear the success stories of our clients as a result of our press technology and the services we provide.

Most memorable moment with INI: The first sales I made at DSN and DPC are by far the most memorable moments.

Hobbies/Interests: Traveling, gardening, golfing, watching football, sleeping, I love going to the Beach, and spending time with my husband Ryan and daughter Elyse.

Fun fact (about myself): I am expecting my second child at the end of July!

Tim Spong

Position: Editorial assistant for DSN opinion pages and online public-issues forums

Number of years in the newspaper or printing business: 15

Job description: Prepare guest commentaries and letters to the editor for print and online publication. Glean online public-issues-forum postings and adapt for use as “Hot Topics” in DSN. Also prepare religion calendar and briefs from submission in all forms, and other briefs from paper submissions. For time being, also prepare police and fire briefs.

What I like best (about my job): Keeping current with significant public issues.

Hobbies/Interests: Music in many forms, including playing keyboard instruments and singing (tenor) in church choir; dabbling in surfing (though rarely get up), sailing and bicycling.

Fun fact (about myself): (I used this before 5 or 10 years ago, but haven’t thought of anything more appropriate) Nicknames by which I have been known at various points in my life include “Doc,” “Professor,” “Sponge,” “Tiger” and “Timmy Turtle.”
