Rachel
Sawicki joins the Delaware State News as a reporter.
She
is a Delaware native, born and raised in Camden-Wyoming. She graduated from
Caesar Rodney High School in 2017 and the University of Delaware in 2021.
She
interned with Delaware Public Media summer 2019 and started part-time work with
them in the fall. For two years she anchored daily newscasts, hosted All Things
Considered and wrote and recorded local stories for air. At UD she was the
President of the Student Television Network and Sports Director at WVUD, both
of which she joined in her freshman year. She began as a senior reporter at the
Review my sophomore year and was promoted to Development Officer for her final
year.
She
is a huge environmentalist. She was an environmental humanities minor in
college and was heavily involved with an environmental justice and
reforestation project in West Baltimore (see pic of Rachel with dirty hands and
a cicada friend!) She is forever an animal lover –she currently has four cats but there was a time
that our house had three times as many, including a litter of six kittens and a
few fosters.
