Access Your WellCents Resources

Dear INIers,

WellCents is  a comprehensive, holistic financial wellness solution designed to help you create confidence in your financial life. Independent is pleased to offer you the WellCents resources as well as the opportunity to meet and speak with an Advisor from NFP’s (Independent’s retirement broker and co-fiduciary)  Wealth Team. In a 30-minute meeting (virtual), NFP will provide comprehensive advice and education concerning your retirement investments plan as well as answer any other financial planning questions you may have. NFP can provide a calculation of your projected income at retirement, based on your current values and savings rate.

§ Schedule a Meeting with Michael Hoch from NFP Wealth | Business Code: Independent Newsmedia Individual Meetings - Virtual Meeting: September 25th 10am – 6pm EST.

Prior to Your One‐on‐One Meeting:

Please be prepared for this meeting by logging into your Principal account and confirming your account access information. If you have forgotten this information or need to retrieve it, go to www.principal.com .

Participants are required to complete the online questions. To provide advice, the advisor is required to establish a “suitability review” for any individual NFP meets with. NFP takes on the role of a fiduciary in these instances. In short, the advisor needs to understand the participant's financial picture, risk tolerance, and time horizon so that they can provide accurate guidance when speaking.  Make sure to keep your sign in and password for the next round of individual meetings next year.

Attached is the information on WellCents.

The Ad Looks Great

Chris (Williams), we're lucky in that we get our Independent first thing on Monday.  I just wanted you to know that I am really happy with the way our ad came out.  The printing was the best I've seen for the Independent.  All of the colors and details were brought through perfectly.  Please let the staff know how delighted we are!

Florida Mission Stories August 2024

New garbage cans leave readers with questions

In August, Waste Management rolled out a new plan for collecting solid waste in Okeechobee County, and readers had plenty of questions. The new garbage trucks will be equipped with special devices that will empty garbage cans without the WM employee leaving the cab. To make this possible, each household was provided with two new garbage cans, one for household garbage and one for yard debris, and instructions in exactly how, when and where to place them for pickup. Despite fliers passed out with the cans and post cards sent to each address in the county, a lot of people were still confused by the new system. The Lake Okeechobee News website ad print edition helped answer the many questions that came up as the new system was put in place.

Public outraged by golf course plan

In August, people all over Florida were outraged about a plan to build golf courses and hotels on environmentally sensitive land in state parks. The Lake Okeechobee News was part of the media coverage directing readers to the state website where they could share their comments. Due to the overwhelming opposition, the governor cancelled the plan and tried to distance himself from it!

 Water, water everywhere

It’s the rainy season in Florida and the month of August was very wet. The Lake Okeechobee News website and print editions have kept readers updated with what is going on with the level of Lake Okeechobee, storage plans and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers decisions about drainage and water movement.
