Publisher Katrina Elsken, a member of the Okeechobee County Centennial
Birthday Celebration committee, had a busy Saturday on May 6, helping to
host a birthday extravaganza for the whole county. The party, which started at
1 p.m. with a free festival, BBQ cook-off and children's games and ended at 9
p.m. after a barn dance, was held at the Okeechobee Agri-Civic Center. It was
just one of the many events organized by the centennial committee in the
year-long celebration of the county's 100th year.

one of the centennial sponsors, as evidenced by the signs at the entrance to
the event.
