It’s always important to kick off coverage of Black History
Month with a story that resonates – one that will draw in, inspire and make a
multitude of readers think. Salisbury Independent offered such a package in
February with an interview and preview of local artist Patrick Henry’s amazing
exhibit at a Salisbury museum. Henry’s newest work
was [a] departure – he is best known for
Eastern Shore landscapes. But Henry tapped his generational experiences and
perspectives of local Black families and communities to produce a collection
never seen before. The newspaper’s ability to promote Henry and his works was
well-received and generated positive feedback. The reporter also succeeded in
showing a personal side of the artist many people didn’t know..
