Lessons from Superstorm
Sandy
Superstorm Sandy in October 2012 taught Crisfield a lot of
lessons about being resilient
for the next storm.
Replacement housing built by the Somerset County Long Term
Recovery Committee showed when homes are elevated well out of the floodplain
they can be spared from devastating tidal surges.
Now as the Crisfield-Somerset County Times reports, the
successor organization, the Eastern Shore Long Term Recovery Committee, has an
ambitious goal of raising more then $5 million to elevate 100 houses.
