Pilar
Arias, right, news services for the Apache Junction office, served as a judge
for the Mountain Health & Wellness Salsa Fiesta May 4 in Apache Junction.
It was the first time Pilar had judged an event, and she was very impressed
with the quality of the entries. "They could be served in
restaurants," she said of the nine salsas she tasted.
The
Apache Junction/Gold Canyon Independent was the print media sponsor for the
event. Scott Taylor, the Independent's advertising consultant, served on the
fiesta's planning committee and helped coordinate the Independent's overall
support of the event. He also helped arrange for L.A.-based comedian Roberto
Rodriguez to perform. Scott and graphics designer Deb Crotzer helped design the
event logo, poster and flier.
As
a result, the fiesta was a huge success, maintaining the Independent's position
as the city's community newspaper.
